It comes down to thickness and the foundation. Standard "gold plating" is often a microscopic wash over inferior brass. Serra Morphe Gold Vermeil is a regulated standard: a thick layer (2.5 ~ 3 microns) of 18K Gold bonded directly to solid 925 Sterling Silver. It is engineered to be up to 50x thicker than standard plating, designed for longevity and repeat wear.
Never. The "green finger" reaction is caused by reactive base metals like copper or nickel. Because our foundation is strictly Solid 925 Sterling Silver, our pieces are 100% hypoallergenic and completely nickel-free. You experience the weight and warmth of solid gold, with zero skin reaction.
Our thick Vermeil is highly durable, making everyday wear—like washing your hands—effortless. However, to preserve its original luminosity for years to come, we recommend removing your pieces before showering, swimming in chlorine or saltwater, or applying heavy perfumes.
